What is the difference between YRT and Viva?
York Region operates York Region Transit (YRT) as a local transit service and Viva, which is a rapid transit service. Typically, Viva is fed passengers by YRT, which travels in and out of neighbourhoods. The new system allows you to move between regions and within York Region faster than ever before.
Does Presto work on Viva?
There are no fare boxes on Viva so you must purchase tickets and passes, tap your PRESTO card or activate your mobile ticket/pass prior to boarding. After purchasing or validating your fare, you will be able to wait in the Fare Paid Zone to board Viva vehicles. Proof of payment is required inside the Fare Paid Zone.
Who makes Viva buses?
Viva is YRT’s rapid transit service, the first of its kind in the GTA. Trips are frequent and flexible, making it easy for you to get to your destination at any time. Each stop – called a “vivastation” – has a ticket vending machine and a ticket validator so you can pay for your fare before you board the bus.
Can you pay cash on Viva?
Yes. All payment methods are accepted on all Mobility On-Request services (PRESTO, YRT Pay app, Transit app and exact cash).

Should I tap off Viva?
All you have to do is tap your card either on the PRESTO card reader at a vivastation before you board Viva, or on the on-board PRESTO machine on a YRT bus, and the system will automatically deduct the fare from your card’s balance (GO Transit riders also tap off at the end of their trip).
How long are TTC transfers valid for?

A transfer is applied to your PRESTO card or PRESTO Ticket when you first tap on a card reader. It is valid for two-hours.
Can presto be used on Yrt?
Tap onto YRT with PRESTO. PRESTO is the smart card fare option for York Region Transit (YRT). With a PRESTO card, you won’t have to worry about buying bus tickets, a paper monthly pass or having correct change to ride YRT. In York Region, with a tap of your PRESTO card, your fare is deducted from your account.
