What happens when the clutch pedal stays down?
Broken Clutch Cable: The most common reason to have a clutch pedal that goes all the way to the floor is a broken clutch cable. This is extremely common, particularly on older cars. Low Fluid: If you have a hydraulic clutch, there are a couple of other things it could be. One is low fluid in the master/slave cylinder.
Can a clutch suddenly go?
Clutches tend to fail in one of two ways – either suddenly or gradually. Sudden failure is most often caused by a broken or loose clutch cable, linkable or a failed hydraulic master/slave cylinder. There can also be leaks in the hydraulic line or even the disc could be contaminated with something like dirt or debris.
When does the clutch pedal on a Tacoma get stuck?
Discussion in ‘ 1st Gen. Tacomas (1995-2004) ‘ started by jerodsand, Apr 3, 2017 . None so far. Wondering if anyone else has an issue with their clutch pedal not retracting back into place. Mine will get stuck sometimes and I have to lift it back into place with my foot.
Why does the clutch pedal stay on the floor?
The pedal stays on the floor because there is a spring under compression on the clutch pedal that helps push the pedal to the floor. If there are no visible leaks from the slave cylinder, the clutch master cylinder on the firewall likely has an internal leak. I’ve replaced the clutch master cylinder twice.
What does it mean when your clutch gets stuck?
I have been dealing with a similar issue in my 2007 RWD 5-speed 4cyl. If I push the clutch all the way to the floor it will stick down but when I release it (by hand or foot) it gets stuck in an upright position and won’t budge for up to two days. I have learned to live with this my never pushing my clutch past a certain point.
Why is the clutch start switch not engaged?
The clutch start switch isnt engaged unless pedal is tightly on floor. If you are not using Toyota parts then my first bet would be on bad aftermarket parts: return those possibly suspect parts and retry with OEM parts to confirm (mostly I’m saying that to the person from 2015, just above your post).
