What happens when a Polaris Ranger looses power?

What happens when a Polaris Ranger looses power?

After riding for a couple hours it will suddenly loose power and backfires and then slowly stall out – sometimes I can keep it running by pumping the throttle but most of the time it just dies. If I let it sit for 10-15minutes it will start and run good for a bit then sometimes does it again.

Can a Polaris Ranger have no engine lights?

No codes no engine lights just runs like hell part of the time and fine part of the time. Definitely worse the longer it runs. Usually doesn’t happen at cold start up but occasionally it does. The longer I push after starts running bad the worse it gets. With I could figure this out!!!

Where are the zip ties on a Polaris Ranger?

Passenger side, bottom of the motor. Check the wires down there also. If you cut all the zip ties where they have them bunched up around the t bodies you MAY be able to find your problem. Unplug them pull the loom back and stretch them out and look closely.

What’s the idle RPM on a Polaris Ranger?

The idle is any where from 980 to 1050 rpm most of the time. Don’t shift and force or you will break something. Shift into gear with engine off and find the root of the problem. I would start at the clutch/belt. If the belt is in a bind while at idle, it will prevent easy shifting. Could be clutch is not fully releasing.

Why is my Polaris Ranger hard to shift?

I have a 2011 800XP that ran great until recently. It started idling rough and high and very hard to shift. I replaced the TPS harness with no change. I took it to the dealer, TWICE, and he could find nothing wrong. It does not through a code. The dealer suggested replacing the throttle body to the tune of $500.00.

What’s the service engine light on a Polaris Ranger?

I started it up sunday, started fine, idled at 1800 for a few minute or so and then down to 1250, and no service engine light. I’m stumped, does it take a while for the computer to clear the code and to return to normal operation?

What should the rev limiter be on a Polaris Ranger?

The wire feed to the TPS (Throttle Positioning sensor) had a chafed spot I found when I went to inspect the TPS. I placed a piece of pipe insulation between the wiring and the Starter motor’s positive connection. It cleared up! Depending on ur machine, it should have a rev limiter, but its set at like 6300 rpms or so.
