What does a steering rack boot do?
What are these boots? They are rubber covers which seal each end of the car’s steering rack or CV joint, while still allowing movement of the steering and driveshafts. What to do if your power steering fluid is leaking?
You need a rack and pinion. That boot is just there to keep dirt from entering the system. A boot just sits over the end of the rack and covers part of the tie rods. It is not meant to keep the fluid in. If it is indeed leaking, it has likely blown a seal. It will need to be serviced at best. Are you losing power steering fluid?
