What causes a Nissan X Trail diff failure?
Re: X-Trail Diff Failure! The major cause of a diff failure is low diff oil level OR the incorrect diff oil !!! This is where it gets interesting! I had the rear diff oil checked and replaced at the 80,000kms service (that is about 8,000kms ago) by the Nissan dealer and I have the receipt to prove it.
How long does Nissan diff oil last for?
The Nissan diff oil lasts upto 80,000kms with no problems at all and I don’t see the need to change it. The diff problem I had has nothing to do with the diff oil type used. I would have had exactly the same problem with the synthetic oil had it been there. That’s just my opinion and those whom I spoke to about the diff oil. TOTAL POSTS: (??)
Can a Exy have a rear diff failure?
Re: X-Trail Diff Failure! I must be the first case ever to have an exy with a rear diff failure cause I can’t find anyone with a similar problem in the xtrail, but I found many sources of information discussing the causes of it. I have mentioned my problem in THIS Grinding thread, but this grinding turned out to be a total rear diff failure.
