What are the secondary clutches on a Polaris IQR?
TSS98 secondary clutches came on the ’05 and ’06 IQR 440’s. They have 8 bolts on the helix. This tool can be used for alignment with the TSS04 and Tied clutch in an IQR (but not the Axys) but a .100 spacer will need to be added between the tool and secondary when checking offset. Special order only, usually takes about a week.
Why is the clutch on my Polaris UTV flopping?
It’s not always the drive belt’s fault. The secondary clutch on this vehicle from Polaris is Team Industries, similar to a golf cart style. The secondary, along with square pucks, is basically flopping around until it is mounted on the secondary shaft.
What kind of clutch does Polaris XP900 have?
The clutch used on your 2016-2019 Polaris XP900 or XP1000 is a Team Boss clutch. Boss stands for “built on secondary shaft”, basically how we can make a cheaper clutch. This, in turn, makes for a less quality clutch that will show its ugly face a lot sooner after riding your UTV.
What kind of clutch does a 2015 Polaris UTV have?
The 2015 RZR 900 & XP1000 came with a Team Tied driven clutch, which is a better clutch all around because of the way it slides and the size of the main collar and helix size. The rollers are round not square. The aluminum slide part of the actual clutch housing is much thicker with the Team Tied clutch.
Why is the clutch not adjustable on a Polaris snowmobile?
If you have a stock clutch, it isn’t adjustable (to the best of my memory). The previous owner may have zip tied the governor spring to get a bit more performance and this may be causing just enough rpm to engage the clutch. Snip the zip tie and if you want to reinstall a new one, just don’t cinch it down as tightly.
What does a Polaris clutch clutch look like?
Let’s get into juicy innards of the Polaris clutch where you’ll find parts that spin, parts that flop, a bunch of aluminum, and a big ol’ spring. The primary clutch looks kind of like a couple dinner plates smashed together with some extra hardware on the backside of one.
Is the Polaris primary clutch made by SuperATV?
It’s not! SuperATV currently produces clutch kits for most Polaris models and some Can-Am and Arctic Cat models. Changing out the spring for a different one makes big changes to your clutch’s behavior. Too stiff and your clutch stays open too long, which means your RPMs will be over the optimal range before you even start moving.
Why is the primary clutch open on a Polaris RZR 900?
Here is an up-close view of a stock primary clutch for a Polaris RZR 900. When your foot is off the gas, the clutch is fully open because the primary clutch spring holds it open. With the clutch fully open, the drive belt doesn’t move or transfer power to the secondary clutch, transmission, or anywhere else in the drivetrain.
