However, the theft alarm still activates even when there is no HOOD OPEN warning. The only way that fix the alarm issue is to shortcut/bypass the hood sensor, as @sunquark mention. I had this happen recently on my 07 XLE.

There is a TSB that addresses this issue. My 2010 Venza had the exact same problem, but on the Venza, you have to replace the entire hood latch assembly. On the Camry, you can just replace the switch in the hood latch. I posted a link to the TSB below.
