Is there a problem with my Polaris Ranger 700EFI?
My 700 efi polaris ranger which is a 2007 has been what seems to be running rich and won’t start without having my foot on the accellerator. This has been going on for some time now.
Does the Polaris Ranger Idle alright after starting?
Does it idle alright after starting?If you have to give it gas to start,sounds like it is starving for gas or too lean to me.Try opening up the low speed idle jet 1/4 round for a try and see what happens.That might do it,if not a carb.cleaning is in order I would think.Low speed jet just might be stopped up.
What causes a bad throttle position sensor on a Polaris Ranger?
Not sure if it has one, but on a car a bad O2 sensor will cause that as well. Sometimes a Throttle Position Sensor is the culprit if you got the engine real wet at some point.
What kind of gas does a Polaris Ranger use?
There is a guy in gainesville named Jerry Lee, he is very good and very reasonable. he is retired from a cycle shop. You probally have ethanol virus, I only burn non-ethanol gas in my atv’s now due to three crab rebuilds in a year.

An 08 should read about .660 although I have found these numbers to be more of a guideline than the rule. You will need a good multimeter set on low DC voltage. The TPS is very touchy and a little and I mean little adjustment clockwise can get you right back to 1000 rpm @idle.

Also check plug wires, I know it sounds simple but someone had once brought an ATV over that ran fine at idle/low rpm but fell all over itself when trying to accelerate, the plug wire was just resting on top of the plug, pushed it on and problem solved. I just bought a 2008 Ranger xp 700 with about 120 hours on it. I’ve taken it out a few times and it has 2 issues that I’m hoping you could help me out with- 1) It didn’t idle well when I bought it but wasn’t to big of a deal at the time. Now that I’m using it I find that I would like to fix that problem but not sure how.

Why does my Polaris Sportsman run on EFI?
Machine starts right up, but runs like the choke is left on (but its an EFI) and will continue running only if you are on the throttle. Grrr. AKStew, did you have any Check Engine lights throughout any of this?
Why is my Polaris Ranger engine not running?
Look at the air filter of your Polaris Ranger. It may have a clog in it, which chokes your engine and won’t allow it to run. If you think the air filter has dirt or water in it from driving in harsh terrain or conditions, replace it. Check for spark.

Can a Polaris Ranger run at even RPMs?
When acceleration is applied it staggers and farts, until you let off the throttle, then it will run fine at an even RPMs until accelerator is pushed. It will always start right up if it dies and will idle. And run when stopped, in neutral or in gear and rolling. I’m wondering too .. is there a governor that keeps RPM’s down for over reving?

I placed a piece of pipe insulation between the wiring and the Starter motor’s positive connection. It cleared up! Depending on ur machine, it should have a rev limiter, but its set at like 6300 rpms or so.

The second trip up Silver Canyon which was a lil more strenuous for the machine and produced this problem. Then tonight i took it out for a spin on the powerline Rd and down along the hot ditch.

Can you check the oil on a Polaris Ranger?
Check your oil, polaris says its impossible but believe me it happened to me over 50 times and every time it was low on oil and it would go into like a limp mode. No codes flashed or anything. Put oil in and ran like a champ You know ..

What’s the idle time on a Polaris Ranger 700?
That 2008 700 is a sweet machine especially with those low hours…….. It idles between 5-600 so I have to fan the throttle to keep it running. I tried the sea foam but maybe I need to do it again. I only ran half the bottle through half a tank then added more fuel half way through that tank so probably too weak?

Where is the idle voltage adjustment screw on a Polaris Ranger?
If the voltage is outside of that range, turn the idle voltage adjustment screw on the left front of the throttle body (right above the throttle cable) until you have the desired voltage. Although the screw is designed to require a special tool (Polaris part # PU-47315), it can be done with needle nose pliers.
