Is the junkyard transfer case shift actuator bad?

Is the junkyard transfer case shift actuator bad?

From what I gleaned from the service representative, either the junkyard transfer case shift actuator/motor is bad, the wiring harness that goes from the relays to the shift actuator is bad, or the relays themselves are bad.

Why is my transfer case not shifting and stuck?

I visually inspected the transfer case motor/actuator as my friend changed the selector from 4Hi to 2wd and the output “shaft” of the motor/actuator rotated about 30 degrees. Definitely less than 45 degrees. Then when my friend changed the selector back to 4Hi the output shaft didn’t move at all.

What are the relays for the transfer case?

If the motor turns, there’s not much that can go wrong. There’s 4 relays that have to do with the transfer case. Two of them are called “transfer shift low relay” and “transfer shift high relay” and are used to control the direction of the actuator motor.

The 4WD warning lamp in the combination meter will indicate the problem area by flickering according to the self-diagnostic results. Refer to DLN-59, “DTC Index”. 1. Warm up engine. 2. Why does my transfer case not shift out of 4HI?

I bought a new transfer case shift motor/actuator and installed it, but the truck still wouldn’t shift out of 4Hi. If you started the truck with the selector on 4Hi, the pictogram showed all 4 wheels engaged, but when you change the selector to 2wd the pictogram goes blank and the 4WD error light comes up.
