Is the 2015 Subaru Legacy a good car?
The 2015 Subaru Legacy has been by far the most troublesome. Was this review helpful? (41) (2) Well I have had plenty of Subaru vehicles to compare the 2015 Legacy to. I wanted more safety features, the reliability I have grown to expect, comfort, fun, bells and whistles.
When did the Subaru Legacy premium come out?
I purchased a 2019 Subaru Legacy Premium with the Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Fog Lights package in February 2019. This was after at least a year of toying with the idea of getting a new car. I compared this against the new Accord, Forester, Ascent, Santa Fe, Sonata, Tucson, among others.
What kind of engine does a Subaru Legacy have?
The 2.5 boxer is also a loud engine that transfers more noise into the cabin than it should, even under light loads… not the exhaust note, but the engine itself. It’s not a particularly powerful engine but I do feel it’s adequate.

Subaru programs their CVT’s to simulate shift points which eliminates the droning of other manufactures CVT’s and for stop and go traffic it works very well. This starts to fall apart as you enter modest acceleration where the simulated shift points become painfully slow.

Both of these are known flaws (see the Subaru 6th Gen Legacy forums) and there is no real fix. Another serious problem is the gas mileage. 30 mph combined? Forget it! I get 28 mpg in the summer, 23 mpg in the winter, driving country roads at 30-40 mph, typically five miles in one direction.
How old is the fuel filler door on a Subaru Legacy?
Fuel filler door was repaired at two years but failed again in third year; now supposedly fixed after three visits to the dealer (who wanted to charge me $150 until I raged a bit). Backup camera passed as okay by dealer even though it fails to show the guidelines at least half the time.
