Is it possible to mount electronics to the dashboard?
If you want to mount your electronics somewhere on your dashboard, it can become a bit difficult to make that happen. Nowadays, most mounts only come with those suction cups for windshields. You could make a custom mount (like those featured on Lifehacker), but I’ve discovered an easier way which only takes a minute or two.
Where is the best place to mount a dash cam?
This is the most popular option when mounting a dash cam, but it does depend on where its placed. Ideally, with a good, wide FOV, you want to mount it right in the middle of the windshield. In terms of height, place it a couple of inches below the headliner. This should be behind the rear view mirror, so it won’t get in the way when you’re driving.
Can a beanbag Mount be used for a dashcam?
A beanbag mount is not plausible as you will find that any movement changes the view, and each time you use the can it will need re-aimng. Works well for a GPS but not a cam. Plus if you crash, the cam goes flying and may end up dead when you want it the most.
