How to Open Convertible Top
- Stop your vehicle and move the shifter to Park position.
- Open the trunk and pull the compartment divided and lock it in place.
- Use the window switch to lower the driver and passenger windows.
- If your convertible has a top latch, release it at this time.

When putting the hood back in place, use the ratchet clockwise to really ensure the latches are latched. (this may be the bit you need to try first). There is a guy on a US Jag forum , the guy who supplies the remote roof kit for the XK and he seems be a guru on roof issues.

How to reset the roof on a Jaguar XK?
There is a guy on a US Jag forum , the guy who supplies the remote roof kit for the XK and he seems be a guru on roof issues. He always seems to suggest first is to hold the roof button in for at least 60 secs . Also to reset windows . if the windows are now up as you suggest then they will need to be opened.
