Why is my transaxle leaking oil near the wheels?
If the transaxle was leaking near the wheels I suspect the axle seals are the problem. If you would like to be sure you can add some 80W90 weight oil to the transaxle and see if it starts leaking again. The image below shows the oil fill plug on the top of the transaxle. You may be able to access the plug by removing the battery and battery box.
How do you fix a leak in a transaxle?
It’ll take you longer to get the rear loose and lower it down to get to the axle bolts than to replace the seals. I prop the rear of the tractor up on jack stands under the frame. (chock front wheels) Then put the floor jack under the rear so you can raise and lower it easier. Lifting them by yourself is a bit of a struggle.
Where is the leak in the transmission shaft?
