Dutch braids are back, baby, and cooler than ever. What are Goddess Braids?
Goddess braids are essentially thicker cornrows. They’re bigger in size, raised higher, and are also braided closely to your scalp. They can be styled in so many ways for every occasion; you can go from the gym, straight to work, then out to drinks, all while protecting your hair and looking superchic.
What’s the best way to braid 5 strands?
Grab your hair, and separate it into sections that are roughly equal in size. To help separate your strands, use small rubber bands to essentially make 5 ponytails. Place the bands about halfway down the length of the hair section, and slide them down as you braid. Your hair may not be completely equal.
Which is the second strand in a braid?
Strand five is now the second strand to left on the right side. You will repeat the same basic process with strand two that you used to begin your braid. Make sure you remember that you always pass a strand over first, and under second. Over and under is the pattern of the five strand braid.
How long does your hair have to be to braid?
The length required to braid hair depends on your hair type and desired style. At a minimum, your hair must be long enough that it can be parted, combed to the side and gripped securely between your finger and thumb. If you have short to mid-length hair, you may be wondering if your hair is long enough to braid.
What to do with 5 strand of hair?
You have now successfully completed a five strand braid. Add hairspray or dry shampoo to soft, sleek hair. Your hair may be sleeker and softer if you’ve recently flat ironed or have been to the salon.
