This power loss is not a slow tapered loss, like you would experience if your batteries were at or near dead. But rather it is a jerking, in and out, in and out, power loss. I only experience it going up hill. Battery posts had some pretty bad corrosion about a month ago.

The parts are not defective when new, but become defective after installation. This is not excusing Polaris for specifying parts that are not heavy enough to endure the load placed upon them. That is simply defective (for lack of a better term) design. I think most failures are caused by poor connection between the device and the wiring harness.
Can a universal Polaris Charger be used on other vehicles?
Some Polaris charging systems can be modified to use a universal rec/reg designed for use on other vehicles and for all intents and purposes, eliminate the constant failure of the Polaris unit. I converted an 07 Outlaw 500 to a universal Honda rec/reg and the owner has not experienced a failure since.

Fewer wraps mean lower voltage, but heavier wire means it is capable of withstanding higher current flow. Polaris stators don’t generally fail from use, but from damage caused by corrosion and/or extreme changes in temperature.
