How do you remove a serpentine belt on a Cummins diesel?
I’ve applied tension to the tensioner with my 1/2″ drive socket and moved the ten. about 1/4″ according to my service manual but nothing seems to open up to allow for enough room behind the tensioner to remove the belt?

Use the diagram and situate the belt around the components as shown. You’ll be up and down and all around to get the belt draped right. You’ll have to push a loop of belt down past the fan pulley for you to grab on to from underneath to loop around the crank pulley.

It’s one 13MM bolt to remove the tensioner. To be clear, you are NOT removing the tensioner to relieve the tension from the belt, you’re removing the tensioner for ease of access to free the belt from the engine once it is already loose and vice-versa.
