How do you remove a headlight bulb from a Subaru Outback?
There is a spring clip that holds the bulb in place. The clip hooks on a latch. To unlatch, push in (towards the bulb) and then down. Clip will hingle out of the way, allowing the bulb to be removed.

Ok….I’ve replaced both low beam lamps on my 2011 outback….discovered a couple of tricks that helped in the process. Tip for either side: There is a “cap” on the back on the headlamp assembly that covers the low beam bulb.
Where is the access hole on a Subaru Outback?
Tie about a 24″ string to the cap thru the drilled hole. Fish the string thru the fender space and out the access hole by the air box. “Pull” the cap into position, align the marks, and tighten. This probably doesn’t make a lot of sense, but it will when you raise the hood and check it out. Hope this helps! under bumper to fender where the meets.

2011 Outback 2.5i Premium, CVT, Steel Silver, all-weather package. Upgrades: Tweeter kit, BlueConnect, media hub, remote start, Curt 2″ receiver hitch. No need to remove wheel at all. Just turn the steering wheel all the way AWAY from the side that you are working on. I never felt that the wheel was in the way.

How easy is it to replace the low beam headlights on my 2014 Outback? I wrote another thread: However, I’m seeing all sorts of different info on how to replace low beam lights. The manual actually states to remove a couple of screws that hold fender liner and then replace. Another post suggested you need to put it on rack.

How much does it cost to replace a low beam light on a Subaru?
Another post suggested you need to put it on rack. Yet another said take off the front bumper. I’m somewhat handy but don’t want to get into a ton of work/hassle. I have the jack that came with the car, but certainly no lift. The cost from Subaru dealer was $90 per light.
