The manual seems to indicate they the head rests should come up on their own. –ROB– if your car has the power rear seat option, you should be able to put the outer rear headrests up and down electrically. The center one goes up manually, down electrically.
Why is the rear seat backrest stuck up?
Have you tried removing the rear seat backrest from it’s uphostered frame. One screw is behind the center armrest, and is difficult to reach. That would allow you to see ‘inside’ the backrest where the head restraint is housed. headrests up!!!! Went over a bump and the rear headrests/roll-overs went up.

In your tool kit theres a rod that must be placed down along side the rear passengers headrest and pushed down the headrest at the same time. This will free up the roll bar and release it. This might not be exact but it’s along those lines. Check your hand book. I hope it helps

The rear headrest release fuse is located in the front engine bay (drivers side closest to radiator), fuse #40, 7.5 (brown). Looks good. I think I’ll got the STAR route since those fuses are good. There maybe something else I’m missing. Thanks bro for the input.

At least on the s550, the headrest are design to go down with the button and up by hand. You do hear the noise of the mechanism realesing every time you press the button but they do not go up.
