What to do if the bonnet is not catching on one side?

If the bonnet isn’t catching on one side you should be able to pull it up very slightly to check if it is latched or not. Check the bump stops are not to high and not letting it catch properly and then give it a proper slam never press bonnet to try and close it.

Where does the cable go on a Jaguar X type?

The cable goes to the two catches on the slam panel, it goes to one latch, straight through to the other latch on the x-type you can jack it up, reach up from under neath and move the catch mechanism to one side and open it, then do the other side as well,
