How did I Fix my 700 sportsman EFI?
In the interest of getting all the symptoms and attempted fixes into one thread I thought I’d share about how I spent the whole summer chasing down and fixing a spitting, sputtering, quitting-while-hot issue on my ’06 700 EFI. I know this is very long but I think it will be helpful to those of you that have the same symptoms.
Why is my Polaris Sportsman not spitting EFI?

How long does it take for sportsman EFI to restart?
Waiting about 2 minutes (truly not very long at all) it will restart and run just fine. Then seems to run beautifully. I haven’t been greatly concerned because the wait to get it working again is soooo short.

Why does my ATV not have a spark?
If you have a hard time being able to tell if you can see a spark or not, you could always have a buddy hold the electrodes of the spark plug. If he yells when you try to start the engine, you have spark. There are a few reasons an ATV won’t be getting spark from the spark plugs.
Why does my 04 700 sportsman keep dying?

When acceleration is applied it staggers and farts, until you let off the throttle, then it will run fine at an even RPMs until accelerator is pushed. It will always start right up if it dies and will idle. And run when stopped, in neutral or in gear and rolling. I’m wondering too .. is there a governor that keeps RPM’s down for over reving?

What’s the problem with the Sportsman EFI spitting?
Fixed backfiring, rough idling, hard starting when cold, cutting out when throttling up, POOR gas mileage. Foil – prevented gas tank from warming up and overheating the fuel pump. Hasn’t died since.
How to fix an EFI machine that is not working?
Once removed, you can get to the bolt head on the backside, you cannot do it from the front without removing the panel bolts, it has no lockwasher and will just turn. Once you have the panel off, position the coil straight and tighten down the nut….you may want to try slipping a thin lockwasher under the nut, but mine hasn’t come loose.
