Does NEXUS cover Global Entry?
All NEXUS members can enjoy the benefits of Global Entry at no additional cost through using the Global Entry kiosks for entry at participating airports. You cannot use your NEXUS card at Global Entry kiosks outside of Canadian Preclearance locations.
Can you cross the border with Global Entry?
We accept Global Entry cards for lawful U.S. entry at land and sea ports of entry. Global Entry cards have radio frequency identification chips, which enable their use at Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection (SENTRI) and NEXUS travel lanes when entering the United States at the land borders.
What is the difference between NEXUS and SENTRI?
SENTRI users have access to dedicated lanes into the United States. Unlike NEXUS, which is a joint program between United States and Canadian immigration authorities, SENTRI is solely a CBP program and only applies to customs and immigrations inspections into the United States, not into Mexico.
Are Global Entry and NEXUS the same?
Nexus is administered by Canada and has separate clearance criteria. However, the result is the same as Global Entry: expedited passage. If you are a member of Nexus you now have Global Entry privileges just as if you had registered in the U.S. for that CBP program.
Can I go through TSA PreCheck with my Global Entry card?
No. To receive TSA PreCheck®, you must include your Known Traveler Number (your CBP PASSID for Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI members) in the appropriate field of your airline reservation, and the TSA PreCheck® indicator must be displayed on the boarding pass to access the lanes.
Can I go to Mexico with my Global Entry card?
The Global Entry card is a valid form of ID when entering the U.S. via land. It can also be used at airport security. However, it is only issued to members who are citizens of the United States or Mexico.
What is best NEXUS SENTRI or Global Entry?
If you frequently travel between the US and Canada via land and/or air, NEXUS will likely be the better choice. It is cheaper and allows for expedited entry when crossing the border by car, something Global Entry doesn’t yet offer.
How long is Global Entry valid?
5 years
Once you are approved for Global Entry, membership will be valid for 5 years unless it is revoked do to becoming guilty of a criminal offense, charged with a customs or immigration offense, or declared inadmissible to the U.S. under immigration law.
Can a NEXUS card holder use the Global Entry Program?
If you have already been fingerprinted for your NEXUS card, and the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agency has your passport information on file, you are technically already a member of the Global Entry program. As a Canadian, you should remain a NEXUS member as Global Entry card holders cannot use NEXUS lanes when returning to Canada.
How does the Nexus program work in Canada?
NEXUS is designed to speed up border crossings for low-risk, pre-approved travellers into Canada and the United States (U.S.). Where do Nexus members go to get processed?
Program members use dedicated processing lanes at designated northern border ports of entry, NEXUS kiosks when entering Canada by air and Global Entry kiosks when entering the United States via Canadian Preclearance airports. NEXUS members also receive expedited processing at marine reporting locations.
Do you have to register your car to use the NEXUS lanes?
If you wish to register your vehicle after your initial application, you must pay a $42 registration fee. There are no vehicle registration requirements for a member to use the NEXUS lanes coming into the United States (U.S.) from Canada. However, Global Entry cards will not be valid for entry into Canada via the NEXUS lanes and kiosks.
