Does Jeep take Dexcool?
Dexcool is only for GM’S and HOAT Hybrid Organic Additive Technology or G05 is whats used in all 2001 and newer Chrysler and 2002 and newer Fords. You can get the Mopar or the G05 Zerex which is the cheapest and just as good as Valvoline is the maker of that coolant.
Why is Dex-Cool bad?
It’s supposed to last 5 years or 150,000 miles, but there have been problems with this coolant. Cooling systems that use Dexcool exhibit more acid buildup and rust in the system when the coolant level gets low and oxygen is allowed to enter the system. The acid eats away at head gaskets and intake gaskets.

What kind of antifreeze do I need for my Jeep?
Zerex is approved for use in Daimler Chrysler if you need that stamp of approval. If you don’t then Prestone and Pentosin make one as well. Of course, cost is a factor. Economically speaking it is cheaper to go with the OEM stuff. I got it at my dealer for $26/ gal. The other brands I mentioned are $30-$35/ gal! Remember, the MOPAR is not diluted.
