Can you call AAA if not a member?

Can you call 911 for a jump-start?
Police are trained to help stranded motorists. They will most likely have jumper cables to jump-start your car, but it wouldn’t hurt for you to have a pair of cables just in case you ever need them. If you find this to be your situation, and it poses a risk or emergency, call 911.

AAA Basic Membership benefits are available immediately to members upon joining. Plus, Premier and RV/Motorcycle service is effective 7 days after enrollment or upgrade payment is received. NOTE: Preexisting breakdowns are restricted to AAA Basic emergency roadside benefits, regardless of join or upgrade dates.

If you run out of gas or your car breaks down before then, however, you can pay a $75 fee to waive the waiting period and get help right away.
