Do you need a retune for EGR delete?
Your title asks if you can delete the EGR without a tune, but you state you have a tune. If you have a GDE Hot Tune then you already have the EGR programmed out, which means you can delete it with a stage 2 delete kit (removing the EGR and all components and rerouting the coolant).
Will EGR delete cause limp mode?
What un-plugging the EGR solenoid valve does is too limit the amount of EGR gasses from entering the engine. You will get a CEL but this will not harm the engine nor will you go into limp mode; I ran this way for a year before I deleted.
Does a EGR delete add power?
When you delete your EGR, you will find that at low throttle, low demand driving situations, the truck will have more power. That’s because of the increased fresh air in the combustion chamber that is replacing the gasses that used to be there.
What does a EGR delete do on a TDI?
An EGR delete helps you restore your diesel engine’s power levels which, in turn, also restores your overall fuel efficiency. Since an EGR delete kit sends the exhaust gas away from your car’s engine, it starts to run cleaner, too. Along with that, the EGR delete kit can also improve your engine’s longevity.
Do you need a tuner for EGR delete Duramax?
Registered. For exhaust & blocker plate you don’t need tuning. You may or may not get CEL related to the EGR but it doesn’t cause problems.
What’s the effect of removing the EGR on a beetle?
I just replaced my cylinder head on 2003 beetle TDI ALH. you can clean the egr all you want, but won’t be able to touch the intake ports on the head. Minimizing the egr is a must or mileage will suffer as well as pollutants which result form an inefficient engine.
What’s the effect of removing the EGR on a TDI?
EGR closes at high power settings anyways. The gain would be entirely from some other feature of the racepipe (perhaps it’s bigger). The fact that there’s no longer an EGR isn’t going to make a difference. You might find this post about Dynamic EGR Control for TDIs on the TDI Club forums by Mark at Malone Tuning interesting.
What happens when you use the EGR delete kit?
An EGR delete kit can increase your exhaust gas temperature. Diesel engines typically cool the exhaust gases generated, then recirculate them back into the system. When you bypass this feature with an EGR delete kit, then the exhaust remains hot. That can cause the exhaust gas temperature to rise,…
What does EGR stand for in diesel engine?
EGR stands for “exhaust gas recirculation.” You can purchase EGR delete kits to improve the performance of your diesel engine. EGR systems will reduce the nitrous oxide emissions because it recirculates some of the exhaust gases through the engine intake. This process keeps the engine cool while maintaining…
