Can you lock a running Subaru?
Hit the door lock button through the open window. Hit the 1 click up button for driver window. Remove your hand (obviously). Car is now locked + running and will only unlock via the physical key which comes out of the key fob, or someone inside hitting the unlock button.
Do Subarus lock when you walk away?
Registered. Not an Outback feature unfortunately. If you unlock the doors with the app and don’t open a door within a minute they will automatically relock, so Subaru has the technology but has chosen not to implement it for normal walk away operations.

Why is the remote fob on my Subaru not working?
As to what is wrong, it’s either the remote fob or the car. That is pretty certain. My guess is car is correctly receiving the signal, but the actuator in the door lock isn’t working. One thing you could look at is near the hinges of the door there should be a wiring harness from the chassis to the door interior.

Yes, for the time being I can manually open the car by physically putting the key in the lock. Also, the power locks still work from inside the car with no problems. I will check the wiring harness and also give reprogramming a shot
