How is PT billed?
When using untimed codes, the PT is paid a predetermined fee, no matter the time spent on treatment. These codes can be billed once per treatment session. Timed codes are reimbursed based on the time spent working 1:1 with their patient, and include only skilled interventions.
How do you bill therapy minutes?
The simplest way to consider this is to add up all the time spent providing these timed codes. For each 15 minutes of one service you would bill 1 unit of that code. If there is at least an additional 8 minutes left over, you may bill another unit. If you have 7 minutes left over you cannot bill for that.
