Can a gel battery be upgraded on a Ducati 748?
Well I have one of these ( MOTOBAT *AGM* UPGRADE GEL BATTERY DUCATI 748 2000 >02 | eBay ) on my 748, had it on now for 18 months and never been on charge, plenty of power to start first time every time. It is slightly larger than the standard one so it will need the top clamp altering slightly but no problem.
What kind of bike is the Ducati 748?
The bike ran great last two rides, came out of a stop, got through second, then just died. Very strange. The bike is a 2001 748BP, in pristine condition w/ 9500 miles all service completed by LT Snyder himself. Not sure what else to check.
How does a battery work on a Ducati?
If you get the AGM specified for your bike most battery manufacturers supply them so they do not require mods to the clamp or battery box and should connect straight to the terminals on the bike. Also the battery box on the late models is the same as early ones except it has a inserted molding to fit the later smaller size AGM spec batteries.
Why does my Ducati 748 not start up?
If you don’t have power at the relay, a new one doesn’t do much good. There should be two sources of power, one being switched and one doing the switching. If you have power at the switched pin on the relay, then it is possible the relay is faulty. If not, then the relay is probably not the culprit.
How old is the battery on a Ducati 748?
When you install it give it a full charge before you use it and keep its charge topped up with regular use of an appropriate charger. I can recommend the Yuasa as fitted to late model 748. Mine is 10 years old next month and still going strong, never given any trouble at all and as said it will fit straight in with no modding of retaining brackets.

Is the Ducati 748 the same as the 916?
The Ducati 748 is nearly identical to the iconic Ducati 916 but with a smaller engine (and narrower rear wheel). That means sublime handling on smooth surfaces, terrible comfort, high running costs and a feel-good experience most other motorcycles can’t touch.
What kind of Silencer does a Ducati 748 use?
The Ducati 748 scores a fat zero for luxury – but this is a race motorcycle on the road. Mirrors are terrible, comfort’s poor for most sizes of bikers – at least the instruments are clear and the fast idle beautifully crafted. Termignoni silencers (with the matching EPROM chip) are the top choice for the Ducati 748 and worth paying more for.
