Why is there no smog check in California?
I took it to an “official” smog check station yesterday morning but was told it could not be smog checked because it would fail the test. This was before the the technician even did the test. He hooked it up to his state certified smog check computer, a red light came on, and he said he wouldn’t smog check it because it would fail.

Click to expand… Yes, the smog place brought out their scanner, hooked it up to the OBDII port and scanned for I’m assuming fault codes and/or maybe specifically for a check engine fault code that would automatically fail my truck’s smog test. No experience here, but from what you’ve posted I would suspect that the “helpful” tech had your answer.
