Why is the temperature on my Honda Civic going up?

Why is the temperature on my Honda Civic going up?

I had bought a new IACV gasket earlier in the week so I took my IACV off, cleaned it out (again), put the new gasket on, put the IACV back on, took my radiator cap off, and started the car and let it warm up until the radiator fan kicked on a couple of times.

When does the temp gauge go up or down?

I’ve been using the heat for the past several weeks and it’s never done this until now. The temp gauge will normally go up about 1/3 of the way and stop as usual. It didn’t even make it past the bottom bar today and it was definitely warmed up.

Can you test the thermostat on a Honda Civic?

Idk if you can test em. You can easily test the thermostat though. Turn the car on, let it idle for a while or drivd it till it should be hot and feel the upper rad hose (it should be hot so use caution) if its easy to squeeze and doesn’t feel like there’s anything in it, your thermostat is stuck.

Why does the temperature gauge go to high when stopped Honda?

If the radiator and condenser are clear of debris, and the cooling fan is pulling air through the radiator, the next thing to question is the clogging of the radiator.

When does the temperature gauge go to high?

Temperature gauge goes to high when car is stopped honda Just noticed this today. When I’m driving with my A/C on, my temperature gauge is in the middle. When I’m stopped, the temperature gauge goes steadily up to high and then I’m driving again it goes slowly back down.

What happens when a / C is on in a Honda?

If there are cold spots that are obvious, then the radiator is clogged internally. This is a very common symptom for Honda’s. What happens when the A/C is on, is the condenser gets hot and adds more heat for the radiator to dissipate.

How can you tell if your Honda has a hot or cold radiator?

This can be checked by warming the vehicle up until the thermostat is open, driving the vehicle for a few blocks to get some air flowing through it, stop, turn the motor off and feel the radiator with your hand. Be careful the cooling fan doesn’t turn on. Honda’s will often turn on with the key off. You are feeling for cold spots in the radiator.

Where is the fluid in my Honda Civic?

The radiator fluid was drained out of the bottom of the radiator drain plug then refilled roughly 3-5k ago when I did my timing belt. The radiator and fan are still original AFAIK. Anyone have any ideas as to where I should start looking?
