Why is oil coming out of my silencer?
Valve guides conduct heat from the combustion process from the exhaust valve into the cylinder head. When the valve guides become worn, the lubrication from the engine oil seeps past seals around the shafts. As the oil leaks past the valves, it flows into exhaust gasses from the engine.
