Why is my V-Star 1100 running so low?
During that transition, the fuel source moves from the pilot circuit to the needle jet (main) circuit. If the fuel level is too low, you’ll starve for fuel in that region. Air leaks could still be a problem, as the vacuum starts to rise. Does it run well at higher throttle positions?
Why is my throttle not working on my Yamaha V-Star?
Float level too low, air leak between the carbs and intake, primary jets still clogged, CV diaphragms leaking, any other path for air to exceed the fuel flow. wouldn’t reving up the engine with the choke affect how it runs if it was the carb?
Can a 03’V-Star 1100 custom start right up?
Hello, I have an 03′ V-Star 1100 custom. The problem I am having is the bike will start right up and idle fine, but when I turn the throttle the bike dies. When i use the choke it doesn’t die i can ride it around with the choke out but no throttle. I have cleaned both carbs and checked the fuel pump all are good.
How much does it cost to fix a V Star 1100?
DO NOT DO THAT!!!!! the carbs need to be clean and set up right (jetted accordingly) and not to the jet kit specs either. that don’t work ever…..i charge 250.00 the fix these problems. and i have had no complaints yet… First of all, I am a Harley Tech and I got talked into working on a buddies Yamaha V-Star 1100 Classic for his wife.
What kind of air filter does a V Star 1100 use?
Your knowledge is valuable as is mine or any experienced tech. I have a 2002 V Star 1100 Classic that has a fresh air pop in the front cylinder only. It has Vance & Hines pipes, no cross over and a worthless Hyper charger air filter.
Are there any downsides to a V Star 1100?
One big downside to the 1100 is that oil filter location — c’mon, how stupid is that. Yes, as others said, this issue can be mitigated via relocation kit. I would start to worry about a air cooled bike IF you are in an urban location sitting in traffic on hot days.
Is the V Star 1300 a good bike?
Another thing you may want to consider is the V-star 1300. From what I hear it’s a good bike with a bit more engine. The big added plus to that is fuel injection. If you’re long legged and looking at a V-star you may want to look in to floor board extenders if you get a classic.
Is the VStar 1100 Silverado a good bike?
I have an 08′ vstar 1100 silverado with 45000 miles,no major problems yet,but a knock on this bike is the starter clutch. This is a $ 1500 repair when they go. The 1100 seems good given all the comments I’ve heard. I’ve a 1300 and love it.
What kind of engine does a V Star have?
The Yamaha engines threw that engine into the V Star and design it as a Cruiser and when they did the front exhaust went over the oil filter. They should have just designed their own factory ORK and sold it on the bike.
What does it mean when your engine oil is milky?
It should also be clear when you pull out the dipstick. If the oil is milky or creamy colored, it could be indicative of a head gasket leak. Another good way to pick up on this, is if your exhaust is blowing white smoke and the vehicle is losing coolant. Frothy and cream-colored oil could reveal water contamination.
How can you tell if your car has an oil leak?
Therefore, the best way to evaluate oil color is to look for the obvious issues (outlined below) and then look for other signs of a problem. Milky, foamy, and/or cream-colored oil can be indicative of a head gasket leak, especially if you’re seeing white smoke in your exhaust and your vehicle is losing coolant.
Is it OK to ignore an oil leak?
Yes, it’s easier to just ignore the small puddle of oil forming under your car. Or pretend that burnt oil smell is not coming from your engine. And is that blue smoke coming out of your tailpipe? Oil leaks are something you cannot afford to ignore. It doesn’t always take a trained mechanic to figure out what causes engine oil leaks.
What happens if an oil leak is left unchecked?
Leaks left unchecked can get on rubber hoses or seals and cause them to degrade prematurely. Leaking oil can cause ugly stains on your driveway and are an environmental hazard.
Can a oil leak cause an engine failure?
And worst of all, engine oil leaks are a fire risk in your engine compartment and can result in catastrophic engine failure at the worst possible time, not that there is a good time for catastrophic engine failure.
How can I tell if I have an oil leak in my car?
To check for engine oil leaks keep a close eye on your oil dipstick. If the level drops over time you’re losing oil. While driving, check and see if blue smoke is coming from the tailpipe. Blue smoke means oil might be leaking into the engine itself.
