Why is my motorcycle carburetor leaking gas?
The biggest reason a carburetor will leak gas is if the gasket that sits on top of the carburetor bowl is brittle or worn. This bowl on the carburetor is what holds gas that is getting prepared to be sucked into the engine. With the gas sitting there, it’s easy for the gas to leak if the gasket isn’t doing it’s job.
How tall should a DRZ 125 CARB be?
These instructions do not apply to all DRZ 125 Carbs. First the Pilot screw in the instructions does not apply to my 2003 carb…its not a scew…no adjustment to me made. Second, the float height adj.. The instuctions say .74″…I adjusted mine to this and it cut the fuel off completely….. I would say the height should be about .60″ to .65″.

The pilot jet isn’t drilled, it’s the fuel/air adjust screw that’s blanked off with a brass cap. In the manual that beamishnz put up, Suzuki calls it the pilot screw:naughty: That’ll lead to confusion… kinda like the needle and needle jet, too close to the same title.

All DRZ carbs come with the pilot air screw blocked off with brass blank. Dealers here in NZ tend to carefully drill it out so that they can adjust the airscrew which is often adjusted too lean .. don’t ask why it just is. Maybe to meet emission control.
Can you drill brass plug out of drz125 carb?
As beamishnz has pointed out, “carefully” drilling the brass plug out is the way to go, even stock, to get to the full adjustability of this carb. Mikuni added about a 1/2″ to the neck that the screw sits in, just to add that brass plug.
