Why is my GM no crank no click car not starting?
The starting procedure on these vehicles is fairly complicated and the root problem lies in the ignition switch. The ignition switch does NOT directly control the starter motor like in older designs. In this vintage, GM uses the ignition switch as a signaling device to tell the body control module the position of the lock cylinder.
How does the ignition switch work on a GM car?
In this vintage, GM uses the ignition switch as a signaling device to tell the body control module the position of the lock cylinder. There’s one voltage when the key is in the lock position, another when it’s in the START, and a third when it’s in the RUN position. But the BCM should never see voltage when the key is in the ACC position.
What does no crank no start code mean?
In some cases, the ignition switch may malfunction resulting in an engine no crank concern with no trouble codes. If voltage is present on this circuit when in the crank position, inspect the circuit for a short to voltage with both ends of the circuit disconnected. If the circuit is not
Why do I get no crank signal on my Chevy Cobalt?

The ignition switch now talks to the body control module (BCM) and it’s the BCM that initiates one of two relays. The second relay, the more important of the two, is controlled by the powertrain control module (PCM). And it only operates the starter relay after it’s satisfied that the correct key is in the ignition.
