Why does my TDI crank but not start?
After returning home from lunch, about 3 hours later I tried to start car and it would crank but not start. This is what I did: 3) Scanned again and now no faults. 4) Checked FF canister for “metal” none found. 5) Checked every fuse for continuity (side of dash and in engine compartment). All fuses good.

For the last several months I have suffered from the common judder /misfire / strange idle problem. VW diagnosed this problem as a Dual mass flywheel malfunction.
Are there any TDi engines that don’t use balance shaft?
The only engine we are aware of that doesn’t use the balance shaft module is the 110HP 2.0 TDI (CBDC). Luckily enough there is a solution, for the PD and CR engines. It is replacing the balance shaft module for a chain driven oil pump as seen in other TDI engines.

All fuses good. 6) Ran 04 Basic Settings, 35 to operate tank pump and intermediate pump. Pulled rear seat up and could hear pump run. Intermediate pump is also running. 7) Tried to start again. Cranks but no start.
What is the no start code on a TDI?
The trouble codes above did return. Found a TB on intermittent or no crank (code 00885) and verified that the ignition switch and steering mounted control module are functioning and that the central electric control module is receiving the start signal (50) from the steering mounted module. Can’t find anything for code 00883.
