Why does my Nissan Pathfinder not shift into gear?

Why does my Nissan Pathfinder not shift into gear?

Brake lights are turning on when the brake is pressed. The car will shift into gear when I hit the manual shift release but it will not shift without using it. Does anyone know which relay could need to be changed, I’d rather try that first than trying to get into the center console to change the solenoid.

Again, the 2013 pathfinder has not been included in the extensions There have been numerous issues that were noticed relating to the CVT transmission. CVT transmission replacement for the third time. The transmission will lose power when accelerating. Its a known issue with the Nissan CVT. Dealer says it feels normal for a CVT transmission.

What kind of switch does Nissan Pathfinder use?

It seems that the issue is that Nissan uses an Omron SS-01 switch rated at 100 mA to operate a Park Solenoid that draws 500 mA. In order to fix it you have to buy the whole shift assembly which is a dealer only part for ($450 + tax). I found one a reconditioned one with an upgraded switch that is rebuilt using an Omron SS-5 switch rated at 5000 mA.

What to do when your Nissan Pathfinder is stuck in Park?

You want to get a little pressure off of the parking mechanism in the transmission. It’s not meant to be a brake. That’s why parking brakes aren’t called emergency brakes anymore. So if you do rock it, try and catch your Pathfinder as it rolls behind you. When it’s about to rock forward again, hit the brakes and try to get it out of park.
