Why does my Lexus strut make a clunking noise?
As I rule I usually replace the bearings and mounts when doing struts. Toyota/Lexus has had issues with both the bearings and towers making noise. Take a look at the spring and its orientation to the insulators, any sleeves on the spring wire and spring seats top and bottom.
Why does my Honda Civic make a knocking noise?
I have noticed over the last couple of weeks a knocking noise has developed from the front end of my Civic when travelling over uneven road surface at low speed 10mph-30mph. I have previously had both front suspension struts, bump stops and front sub-frame replaced under warranty a couple of years ago, but my Civic is now almost 3.5 years old.
Why does my car make a clunking noise when I hit a bump?
The noise seems to mainly come from the passenger side although can be triggered when any wheel goes over a small bump, front or rear! I’m starting to think it could be something loose in the engine bay or maybe a link between the suspension. The bumps stops are still firmly in place.

Why does my car have a bad strut assembly?
Typically this is an indication of front end alignment that is faulty, however the issue is typically caused by a strut assembly that has worn out. If you take your vehicle to the local ASE certified mechanic to have the front end alignment checked, the majority of the time a broken strut will be the cause.
1. Knocking noises when driving over bumps. The struts are solid units that allow the chassis, wheel assembly and body to move cohesively when a bump is hit while driving. When the strut begins to wear out, it will produce a knocking or clunking sound that can be very noticeable.
