Why does my gearbox crunch in reverse?
If the gears are grinding when you attempt to shift into reverse, it means that the transmission has not fully disengaged from the engine and its gears are still rotating. Possibly the clutch plate has warped and does not have enough clearance to separate from the flywheel of the engine.

Is there any way to adjust this or does this mean that the clutch has worn out and needs replacing. The milage is showing 108000miles on the clock.The bad poin is that if i am at the lights with the car in gear it will sometimes start to move forward before i am ready.

Why does my Kia not go into gear?
When I left work yesterday it wouldn’t go into any gear, apart from reverse although that was with a big crunch (ouch!) then a judder similar to when you stall a car, although it didn’t actually stall. After that, it went into gear fine. It’s not doing it every time.

Sounds similar to my 2009 ceed, when gearbox oil is cold getting into 1st and the change to 2nd is always hard to get into as it needs to be below 2000 rpm and slower than normal shift. Once you have driven a mile or two the gearbox works fine.
