Why does my A4 Cabriolet not close the hood?

I tried closing the hood one day and it did not want to budge. After closing it manually and a bit of trouble shooting I found it was the electric motor which drives the hydraulic pump which was faulty.

One last niggle is when I turn on the ignition swithch, the roof warning light flashes on the dash untill I quickly touch the roof operation button and then the light goes out. Im thinking maybe theres a fault code that needs clearing out the ecu ????
