Why does my A4 Cabriolet not close the hood?
I tried closing the hood one day and it did not want to budge. After closing it manually and a bit of trouble shooting I found it was the electric motor which drives the hydraulic pump which was faulty.
When to touch roof operation microswitch position button?
One last niggle is when I turn on the ignition swithch, the roof warning light flashes on the dash untill I quickly touch the roof operation button and then the light goes out. Im thinking maybe theres a fault code that needs clearing out the ecu ????
Where do you put micro switches on a roof?
The micro switches have to be in the right position for the roof to operate. You can measure the position of the switches with the measuring block feature in VAG-COM.

If the position is not correct then the roof will not move to the next stage, either the switch is broken or their is a break in the wiring or corrosion in the terminals. if you dont have VAG-COM then you can estimate the stage it stops moving then use the blocks below to note where they should change and then focus on checking these switches.
Where are the switches on a convertible roof?
Looking at “Group” 1, in the first zone I should have the 4th and 8th switch reading in the closed “1” position, which I do; OK. These switches relate to Convertible top released switch -F205 closed (convertible top locked) & Convertible top front latch switch -F172 closed (convertible top resting on roof frame).

Putting 2 & 2 together – open circuit in the handbrake switch signal to the roof ECU. Finding the break in the existing loom was going to be very labour intesive taking trim and looms apart tracing the cable so rewire a link from the switch to the roof ECU.
