Why does Altima steering wheel vibrate?
The most common reason for a shaking steering wheel is the alignment of your vehicle’s tires. When the tires are unbalanced, this can cause the wheels to make your steering wheel vibrate, and sometimes even the entire vehicle. Other mechanical issues can cause the wheel to shake as well.
What causes a rough idle in a Nissan Altima?
Spark Plug Wires – While not every model and engine combination of vehicles today comes with spark plug wires (a lot are now coil on plug), if your Altima happens to have them, they can go bad and cause a rough idle. Here’s a great video on how to diagnose bad plug wires with a multimeter. 2. Vacuum Leak
Why does my Nissan Altima shake when I ID?
If an oxygen sensor goes bad, it can make your Altima run too lean (or rich). A super lean running engine will often shake when idling. The mixture would be wrong at all RPM, but as the engine speed increases the shaking decreases. 7. Fuel Injectors
Why does my steering wheel vibrate when I idle?
Hopefully, a mechanical inspection will reveal any significant problems. This vehicle uses an electronically controlled rear engine mount. When idling, the engine mount goes into the soft mode. This eliminates engine vibration which can be felt in the passenger cabin/steering wheel. Off idle, the engine mount goes into the firm mode.
Why does my car shake when off idle?
Off idle, the engine mount goes into the firm mode. This prevents the engine from twisting under the torque of acceleration. If the engine mount or the vacuum control solenoid has failed where the mount remains in the firm mode at idle conditions, many things can start to shake in the vehicle.
What to do if your Altima engine is vibrating?
To check for engine-mount problems, the mechanic may try shifting from “neutral” to “drive” and back, while the engine is running. If the vibrations disappear or reduce dramatically in “neutral,” it’s likely that you need new engine mounts.

Why is my steering wheel vibrating at idle?
If you have a steering wheel vibration at idle or under light acceleration, this is most likely your engine mounts which have worn a bit. More often than not, this is not a serious issue provided its not hand-shaking-bad! My S70 had a upgraded polyurethane engine upper torque mounts.
