Why are the lights not working on my VW?
I believe the reason is that water may enter the lamp hood when I washed the car, which certainly could cause circuit problems including so called “bulb failure”. Therefore, in fact, the bulbs are still functional, but they were just not ON due to circuit failure.

Good luck! The warning lamp does NOT need to be on. The dealer can hook the computer up and it displays which bulb is triggering the warning. It saves the data for a LOOOOOONG time, don’t worry about them not having the light on.
