Colwick Woods is a 50 Hectare site consisting of grasslands and ancient woodland that has a rich history and is situated within the Nottingham City boundary.
Are there toilets at Colwick Park?
The main car park is on River Road off Colwick Loop Road (A612). Parking is free at the main entrance car park but through the barrier there is a £1.00 charge, unless an orange badge is displayed. Disabled toilets are adjacent to the viewing platform to the south.
Is it safe to swim in Colwick Lake?
Swimming at Colwick Country Park is not permitted on any lake other than during the organised Nottingham City Open Water Swimming sessions. Boats and inflatables are also not permitted.

All the older buildings disappeared when the present Hall was erected in 1775-6, soon after the coming-of-age of John Musters, (father of the husband of Byron’s ‘Mary. ‘) There is a famous painting by George Stubbs of John and Sophia Musters riding at Colwick showing the newly built hall in 1777.
How is Gotham in Nottingham pronounced?
Gotham. While there is a strong link with Batman in Nottinghamshire, and the village of Gotham reported to have also originally inspired the masked vigilante’s home city, the pronunciation is not the same. It’s not ‘Goth-am’ or ‘Got-am’ but rather, ‘Goat-am’ – literally meaning goat village.
Who lived in Colwick Hall?
The Byrons
The Byrons inhabited Colwick for more than 150 years before they moved to Newstead Abbey. Colwick was then bought by the Musters family. The building then fell into disrepair in the last 50 years and was saved by a local builder who won a bid to restore the building.
