Where is the sensor that checks for Bonnet closure?

What does it mean when the bonnet is open on a Land Rover?
On a P38, connections shorted together means bonnet open, connections open circuit (or switch disconnected) means bonnet closed. I had same problem with alarm going off randomly. Having closed drivers door to start car up/stop, which was only way to stop alarm I noticed ‘bonnet hood open’ on dashboard. Checked bonnet which was closed.
Why does my Volvo say the bonnet is open?
I have an intermittent Warning Message coming up that says the Bonnet is Open when it clearly is not. A reasonably intense look around the under bonnet area does not reveal any potential sensor. Where is the bonnet switch on a Land Rover?
Locate the bonnet switch; it’s up there under the bonnet latch. Like me you’ll probably find the lightest touch on the bonnet switch will set your alarm off, or the horn will go off when you try to lock the car. Mine was full of road dust / mud / whatever. I cleaned it with MAF cleaner ‘cos I had some left over.

Where are the bonnet latches on a Freelander?
There are 2 bonnet latches . If you are facing the car the sensor is to the left of the left hand latch. If you feel it there is a bit of a catch that you have to press but you can wiggle it out. Join the terminals and hey presto. Sounds like time for a new switch. Obviously the Freelander uses a different arrangement.
