It might be that the computer only has a certain amount of back up battery (built into the circuit) thereby possibly, after a certain time losing memory settings that you would need to reset when you reinstall the battery. Recently a number of snags have occurred, including the parkbrake problems with the unit failing either off OR on! A couple of weeks ago the parkbrake failed off but as the car was still driveable I left it for a few days – not using the car very much.
