When did I replace the VTC actuator on my Honda CRV?

I have a 2014 Honda CRV. I bought it brand new in April 2014. Made the noise on cold starts and had to replace the VTC Actuator in January 2015 at 20,336 miles. Same thing in April 2016 at 50,509 miles, replaced a 2nd time. It started making the noise again a couple of years ago, probably in 2018 around 90,00 miles. I ignored it until now.

This last voyage kept my CR-V at the dealership for about a week and a half.

Is it worth fixing a bad VTC actuator?

WE HAVE AROUND 146000 MILES AND ALREADY FIXED THE SOLENOID, BUT ABOUT TO SPEND 800 TO FIX THE ACTUATOR. I AM CONCERNED AFTER READING THIS THAT IT IS NOT WORTH FIXING.

When to replace timing chain and VTC actuator?

We had the VTC and timing chain repair done at the dealership and now at 96,000 miles it is doing exactly the same thing it did at 63,000. Do you need to replace timing chain tensioner on Honda CRV?

I dropped my 2014 CR-V at the Honda dealer first thing this morning to have the VTC actuator replaced. After waiting for about an hour, the service writer came in and said they also need to replace the timing chain tensioner. The normal warranty applies.

Can a bad VTC actuator cause an engine failure?

With the timing chain tensioner no longer keeping the chain at constant tension a skipped or broken chain is just a question of time. This is mechanical fact, whether the interwebs have beaten it to death or not.
