What would cause a Jeep liberty to stall?
If your Jeep Liberty shuts off while driving you could have a faulty CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor) circuit. It could also be a faulty camshaft sensor or faulty IAC valve. Do a thorough inspection of the wiring for shorted out wires, burnt wires or faulty connections. The problem in many cases is the sensor circuit.

Why does my Jeep Liberty make a noise when starting?
It never made the noise prior to the first replacement and now the regional tech is trying to tell me that this noise is “normal” and due to holding the key too long. All of the tech’s at this dealer have acknowledged that the noise is not normal and is caused when the starter is dis-engaging from the fly wheel.
How long does it take for a Jeep Liberty to start?
The last two days I’ve ran the vehicle in the company parking lot for ten minutes so it won’t die on the road. It starts ok, but runs a little rough. After about five minutes, the Tach goes from 600 rpm (Idle) to 5000 rpm (the engine does not rev up) then to zero. the engine dies.

What is causing my Jeep to die ( stall ) at idle RPM’s, or up?
WHAT IS CAUSING MY JEEP TO DIE (STALL) AT IDLE RPM’S, OR UP… Hello and welcome to Just Answer. I am sorry to hear about your problems with this vehicle. If you like, we can try to do a few tests to isolate the cause of the problem. Your truck uses a device called an IAC valve to control idle speed.

What to do if your car stalls at idle?
Disconnect the battery and leave it that way for a couple of hours. Restart the engine and see how the idle is. It may stall the first time. If it does, turn the key off for 10 seconds and retry. It should reset.
