What to do if your heater control valve breaks?
On a cable operated system, the cable can break or detach from the control levers, leaving the valve in the fully open position. Adjust the heat to the full on position with the engine at operating temperature. Then check the temperature of the hose on the inlet and outlet sides of the heater control valve.
Is the inlet hose to the heater core hot?
I even drianed the entire system and evacutated all the air out of the system and put a vaccum under and filled the system back up still nothing. The inlet hose to the heater core is very hot it comes out of the front of the engine but the out let hose is warm no where close to hot.

How to put a shut off value in heater hoses?
I put a valve in both hoses, completlyseals off the heater from the hot water. I got a brass ball valve with a barbed hoes fitting on each end, one hose is 5/8″ the other is 3/4″. I tried the valves from NAPA because they are small, but arter a while I could not turn the handle to shut it off or open it.
