I run the best gas I can find and octane booster. As the temperature of the engine increases it pings. It is in the 50’s and 60’s right now and it pings. When it is over 100 it really acts up. What’s the temperature of a Honda Softail engine?
We observed cylinder head temperatures of 550+ degrees as measured by an IR thermometer at the spark plug area. Our test bike was a Softail with the engine completely open, but it still went into overheat mode in 10 minutes on a 78 degree day while sitting in the shade.
When does the HD engine go into high heat?
