There was nothing. I opened the screw cap on top of the tranny and put almost a quart of 40wt oil in there until it started coming out of the inspection hole. I stopped pouring, put the inspection screw back in and the tranny fill cap back on.

Why did I remove the lube from my 1982 FXRS?

On my 1982 FXRS, I removed the original primary case lube system plumbing after about 5000 miles when I saw the condensation and rust during chain adjustment – could not see any reason to feed that stuff into the engine oil. I would fill the case with oil to the bottom of the clutch drum when it was on the side stand with Mobil 1.
