What kind of brake fluid does a Honda Pilot use?
The manual says Dot 3/Dot 4 Honda fluid, but O-Reilly had the brake best big bottles on sale and I picked up two big bottles of severe-duty DOT 4 fluid. Will that be just as good? Getting parts from the Honda Dealer around here is a hassle and they have such a stupid mark-up ($10/lugnut!)

Am I missing something?

Why is Honda picky about brake fluid?
Honda recommends Honda brand fluids because they can charge more for them than you pay otherwise. In some cases it makes sense to use their fluid, but in your case, the brake fluid in your brake system is just fine. For a long time I used Honda manual transmission fluid, but now I use synthetic 10W-30 oil.
