What kind of bike was the Honda CB450?
Up until the CB750 Honda’s big bike was the CB450. For it’s day and time the dohc twin was quite a marvel. I’ve always liked the 450, never had one, always thought the were good looking bikes. A couple guys in HS back in the 70’s had them and they were very reliable and strong running bikes.
Which is better the CB750 or the CB450?
The CB450 in my area is the cooler, more impressive bike. Vintage twins seem to be becoming more popular again. I would think twice about thinking the cb450 is slower. The cb450 makes all of its power from down low; the cb750 is opposite of this. Don’t be surprised if you find out the 0-60 and 1/8 mile times are not in your favor.
What’s the average mileage for a CB750?
The 1/4 mile for the CB750 is readily available. 13 seconds seems to be the strong average. Mid 12’s is going to require some modifications. Anyhow, the CB450 is a little over a second slower in the quarter, which I already guessed.

That’s also 100+ additional lbs, which is A huge increase on a motorcycle. Thoughts? Can’t wait to get my ’72 CB450 back together. Bat out of hell. Really Old Timer …
